New News 2

This is the third time I'm writing this. UGH! I've switched to a whole new news system now, hopefully this one will work. So yeah, bear with PJN as we sift out what will really work for this site. CuteNews just doesn't cut it anymore. If you have a suggestion, just comment on the news post.

PokeChan Update It was supposed to be released yesterday, I know. I'm sorry. I'm redesigning it though, because I want a much more rounded Web 2.0 look for it. Then it will go into a private BETA and then be released to the public. All in all, it'll take awhile for me to finish. I've also decided to add a few more features, so I'm hoping that will go ok too.

Thanks!

Darkrai! Get it!

From Serebii:
+ According to Serebii, Darkrai will be released in coordination with the new Pokemon movie: Dialga vs Palkia! This is a Japan-only event, and will take place at the theaters. Using the Mystery Gift option, you can snag a free Darkrai- no catching required! It is inside a Cherish ball, is holding an enigma berry, and has a special ribbon. I know you didn't really care about that, but had to report it. Now, you may not know that it comes equipped with Roar of Time and Spacial Rend...Dialga's and Palkia's signature moves! Obviously this makes it much rarer, which could be why it's given out by itself. If they gave away the item to get to the Darkrai in the game, it would not have the special moves. Nintendo is most likely making up for the glitch that made Darkrai much easier to get.

+ Mystery Dungeon 2 has been announced! It looks like it's a DS-exclusive, with two different versions: Darkness Exploration and Space Exploration! No, the latter does not take place in Space. It features the Sinnoh Pokemon, same graphics, and is rumoured to use WiFi as well. This time around Wigglytuff runs the show with the ever helpful Chatot, doling out missions. You can check Filb.de's scan of CoroCoro right here!

From PokeBeach:
+ Usually I don't blatantly advertise other sites, but they have beautiful scans for the Diamond and Pearl TCG set in English. If you're interested, I'd highly suggest you go check it out. It's the third news story down.

Win Pokemon!!
+ PJN will soon be starting a program to give away a special Pokemon to one lucky winner each week! Stay tuned to find out what the first one will be ;D

I want to quickly draw your attention to some things you may have forgotten:
- SCanvas > Smeargle's Canvas is for Pokemon drawing or anything appropriate. Lots of members, lots of art, and a great community to join if you like Oekakis! 130 pages of art and still growing every day!
- PJN Toolbar > We have our own toolbar that both Firefox AND Internet Explorer users can use. You can search from it (with Spinarak!), have instant links to our forum and oekaki, and you're two clicks away from some of the largest Pokemon sites out there...for your convenience!

Thanks!

Gold and Silver Remake?!

No. It's a fake. It looks to have originated from Pokemon Millenium, a French Pokemon fansite. Thanks PPN and PokeFeeds for causing quite a stir.

From Us:
+ Right now, Cartoon Network has a special Triva game to play for Pokemon! If you win, you can get a special Turtwig Wallpaper! I have it, I should really put it on the site for download, buuut....I don't know about the legal status of doing that =P

+ Pokemon.com has announced that some new 'projection toys' will be released in 2007. Pretty soon you might be able to get a nice big picture of Piplup displayed on your bedroom wall. Also, it looks like hats for the characters from Diamond and Pearl may go into production.

More news as it comes!

Loooong News

Yeah, I kind of feel bad for PokeFans at the moment. You wouldn't believe it, but yes, there is some news. Unfortunately Joe is off at school, I'm off in Japan, Bulbanews only covers solid stories... sources are kind of dry right now. So I'll do a decent update for everyone. Enjoy it~

== MD 2==
So, first off, let's cover Mystery Dungeon 2! You probably have already read the updates that SPP mentioned, so I won't bore you by catching up. It HAS been confirmed to be only on the Nintendo DS (both versions!) and WILL utilize the WiFi connection for saving people from missions, which used codes last time. More details about WiFi are sparse, and so far no word yet how the saving will work this time around. Co-op? Probably too much to hope for at this point. If you read Japanese, feel free to check out the official website! And to appease fans, some nice high quality screenshots!

== Pokemon.com ==
+ Lots of updates regarding the big launch in NYC! They have interviews of kids (chock-full of mispronunciations), interviews with Game Freak, and a lot more! So if you're interested, go check it out. Even a staffer who is dressed in a Dawn outfit. [[Note: Japanese people HATE cosplaying. I'm very serious about this. It is NOT cool in Japan, they will think you are crazy.]] So, um, go check that out right here...

== Diamond/Pearl Status ==
+ Diamond and Pearl have now sold over 1.7 million games combined! Really amazing figures, although I still think Japan beat America. It was crazy over here. The day after the game launched I kept seeing kids with their DSs playing each other. Anyways, really positive news for our fandom obviously.

+ Diamond and Pearl will be released in July as far as Europe goes. Now, just to pin down a date... Please remember that the official date for Australia is June 21st, lucky people.

QUICK NOTE ABOUT PJN!
+ Brandon and I are undertaking a HUGE project to bring PJN to the next level, PokeJungle Net 2.0. This is, of course, 4 years after the site launched. Yes, it's taken me long enough. More than a new layout, much more. You can refer to it as "Project Evolution". Silly? Yes, but you guys know that I'm not a very serious person. So it will be awesome, and you can expect it in June...either beginning or middle.

Thanks!

Of Forums... [PSA]

PSA = Public Service Announcement. This is not so much a news post, as just a boring one for serious Pokemon Fans and Webmasters. Read it if you'd like.

So yes, I am very proud of Mt. Moon. We've passed 127,000 posts now...and still going extremely strong. Not half bad considering my site isn't all that big. I'm working on a new theme for it which will be out sometime I guess. Probably in time for PJN v2...

But that's not the forum I wanted to discuss today. Because I'm starting an experiment, called 'The Pokemon Fanclub'. It's not a generic name, it's actually named after that one building that always manages to show up in Pokemon games. I'm sure some of you remember it from R/S/Y or R/S/E. What is it? A forum. The difference is though, it's not a public forum. I need to accept each and every person who joins, to handpick the greatest members. It's all about Pokemon. No Daily Chit-Chat, no movie discussion, sorry no. If you want to talk about Pokemon, this could literally become the best forum out there. If you want a place to relax and hang out...Mt. Moon's your place. This is only accepting MATURE members. And for this week, the max I'm taking is 25. It's also not built on MyBB. So if you want an account, you're going to have to email me at admin [at] pokejungle.net and tell me EXACTLY why you deserve to get one of the 25 accounts that are available at the moment. Bad grammar/spelling? Disqualified. So yep, strict so we can maintain a n00b-free zone. If you're a serious and mature Pokemon fan, email me.

Also, to other webmasters:

PJN is starting a new program in cooperation with Mt. Moon Community called "Unified Pokemon Forum Project". What is it? I'm glad you asked! I keep seeing forums with under 500 posts and ... no one around, yet small sites still insist on having their own. I want to change that. Beginning tomorrow, sites can apply to make Mt. Moon the forum for their site. It includes several benefits:
- UPFP Member Status (Bigger PM box, colored name)
- Access to the UPFP area (Special Forum)
- Link to your site at the button (Text, just like the link to my site)
- Access to VIP lounge (More secret areas ;3)

What you will NOT get however is the ability to run amok locking threads, editing posts, or banning people. UPFP is a special type of staff that has direct input and voice into how the forum is run, but they need to earn the right to have staff abilities. If we deem them to be fit, then they can inherit more duties. But it's a lot nice for sites that have about 75 or less people daily and no chance for having a truly active or engaging community. I'm honestly trying to help out. If any webmasters want to do this, please email me. My email was already listed above. Put "UPFP" as the subject or it will be spam'd by autobots.

And webmasters can also remember to use MMC's Webmaster Forum because PC's section died, SPP's is spammy, etc etc.

Aaaaaaand (finally, yay!) the RSS for the new news is fixed! Add it to Technoranti, iGoogle, NetVibes, wherever you want 8D Also, I will be much more adamant about deleting and banning bad posters. It was disgusting last time.

Thanks, sorry for long post! It was horrible and boring I know!

Hey everyone! Hunk is here! I feel so bad about not posting recently. I have been busy trying to finish my school for the summer so that I can work here a lot more. Yall mean so much to me, and I have been such a bad co-webmaster. But I am trying to be better, and you'll forgive me once you see my overhauling this summer.

For today, I have brought you PotW themed things. I am going to be working on a sweet guide from NintenBeau this week, hopefully it will be up by end of the week. Monday at the latest. I am going to also be working on some fun guides for Diamond and Pearl. I think my Pearl actually said "Stop playing me, I am getting tired". I have really been playing the living daylights out of it.

On a slightly humorous note, I thought that I'd mention that I am having a Kingdra trouble. I cannot find a Dragon Scale to save my life, and my Kingdra from Emerald has disappeared. If anyone can be of any help, let me know. My National Dex is at 420 Pokemon caught because I am doing it in order from 1 to 492 or 493, whichever it is, I can't remember currently.

I'd also like to say that MMC is growing more and more. I know Paul sorta eluded to it in the past post, but it really is growing. It is like a forum on steroids, except MMC's growth is mostly all legal. just kidding...

Check out Breloom, up in the top right hand corner. Synchronize is providing PJN with the most awesome PotWs ever. Thanks Synch!

Now, I will post more later, and maybe we can get some news.

Sayonara everyone!
~The Hunk (Brandon)

I feel like all I have done is work this year so having a couple months of no having to wake up at 5:30 or 6 AM.

As always, PJN works to keep you knowledgable of all things happening in the Pokemon World. However, there isn't much news circulating. There is a lot to be said about Pokemon Battle Revolution so today is Pokemon Battle Revolution Day.

IGN.com has post pictures and videos from the American version of this expected game coming out of June 25. The IGN PBR page can be found by clicking <a href="http://wii.ign.com/objects/818/818481.html">HERE!!!</a>

So today, I must know, are you excited about this game? Are you going to buy it? If so, when? Do you want the game, but unfortunately, can't afford a Wii (like mii, hehe pun on words). You can tell me in the news.
PBR Names and Now Hiring

Hey everyone! Summer is almost 100% here for me, and as many of you know I am going to be doing a ton of work on PJN. That is why I'd like to open up the hiring process again! Here's how this will work: I am hiring in all departments. I will hire up to 10 good summer employees. The best at the end of the summer will become full-time PJN employees. This means if all 10 are awesome, all 10 will be hired in September.

Brandon, how do I apply? Well, all you have to do is send me an e-mail at branhunk @ gmail.com {remove spaces}. In that e-mail, include a small profile of yourself, explain why you would like to have the job, and tell what department you'd like to work in. If I really like the profile, you'll get a reply asking for a sample of work. Then I will hire you, or reject you.

The departments we have are games, TCG, and anime.

Good luck, and may the applying begin. Keep in mind, if you have applied to PJN before, but weren't accepted, you have a greater chance this time because we need good summer staff.

From Serebii:
+ New names have been given out for Pokemon Battle Revolution. Remember, it comes out in 12 days.

Gateway Colosseum will have Leader Joe.
Main Street Colosseum will have Leader Taylor.
Sunny Park Colosseum will have Leader Sashay.
Courtyard Colosseum will have Leader Kruger.

Ok, have fun! See yah soon!
~The Hunk (Brandon)

Mystery Dungeon

Ok, I want opinions from YOU, our site viewers. Do you want the news to be once daily? OR A new news article for each piece of news? It's up to you. I don't care either way, and whatever works for you. Daily updates are what we do now, and separate news articles would be like a news blog. Kotaku, Joystiq, Engadget, etc. And yes, I will tell you that you will see a major change here very soon. I had originally given up on v2, because I was so busy...but guess what? I started a new layout and it's looking really spiffy, and Brandon will be working on other things. It will be a major change, both look wise and content clean-up wise. Much more polished for you, with a new 'Web 2.0' layout...that's all I'll say ;D

From Us:
+ Here are the new Mystery Dungeon 2 boxarts. (Yay) Click on them to see a bit bigger version. Also, it's nice to see confirmation with the little WiFi Symbol there. Stay tuned so PJN can fill you in on the details soon for that.

You can check Serebii for names of US characters in Pokemon Battle Revolution. They changed some names around though, so at the moment I'll just wait until the game's release. I was happy to hear that you can change the Skin Color now, definitely a cool touch.

Later ;D

Pokemon Rules Supreme

So, I was looking at PokeBeach, and they found an article on Pokemon's phenomenal success as of late. You can read it on Yahoo Business news right here. Very nice in my opinion. I'm glad the fandom is still going strong after 10 YEARS! That is a HUGE accomplishment for Nintendo, PUSA, and us (the fans)! So congrats everyone.

I also wanted to point out that Pokemon shouldn't be viewed as simply a child's past time. Obviously a LOT of my visitors and forum-goers are teenagers. Absolutely nothing wrong with liking Pokemon. I'm really sick of the stigma that has gotten attached to it. It's a damn good RPG game, and the TCG is also better than most.

Little bit of a philosophical post I guess. Just updating, we're working HARD on PJN's new layout and whatnot, hopefully it'll be up as soon as we can get it going!

And I have less than a month now left in Japan. *tear* Really sad!

I'm horrible

So I'm packing and stuff in Japan now, because obviously I need to. I have 10 days left here and I'm SO BUSY. Basically I'm half done with the new layout, but have no time to finish it right now. When I get home, I will. I will also have my old desktop back with all my old files ZOMG. So exciting.

I'm sorry PJN didn't cover the Nintendo E3, if I had time I would've liked to. August 1st is looking like the launch of PokeJungle v2, because then I'll be back in America and be finished with stuff. (Back on dial up...) v2 will include a new layout, updated content, and a new look in general. Fixing broken links, updating old information, getting reviews of all the games up, updating the game pages, getting more TCG stuff, etc etc. It will be awesome. PokePet will also get ALL the Pokemon soon. I know that a lot of my visitors come to get those.

Seriously though, prepare for a big makeover. The site will look way different. And some of you may not like it, but it will be very unique from other sites. That's what I've always tried to do, and I think that loyal PJN visitors know that. I think it'll look really good though.

PLUS, middle/end August, we have something planned. An event that you WILL all participate in, world wide, just for me and for Pokemon. 'Pokemon Summer Celebration' will be an online/offline thing. More details later. I'm getting other webmasters to join up for it too.

Until later!

Regigigas!

First off, I need to apologize. I'm sorry to anyone visiting my sites that had to deal with the highly inappropriate content that was posted under some of the news articles. You should not have to deal with that when viewing my site, and it's my fault for not catching things sooner. I will make sure to be much more on top of that, and stricter about banning as well. I'm very sorry.

From Us:

+ The Pokemon TCG World Championships are coming up fast! This year they're in Kona, Hawaii. I want to congratulate all the players that are going, I'm sure it will be an amazing experience. Some Pokemon creators and artists are even attending, straight from Japan! It will take place on August 10th-12th.

+ PokemonCenter has some new merchandise up for Diamond and Pearl! This includes new plushies, clothing (hats/t-shirts), and figurines! If you've been wanting Sinnoh stuff, go check it out.

From Serebii:
+ Looks like Regigigas will be featured for the 11th Pokemon movie! Serebii also speculates that it will feature Shaymin, which would make sense. Nintendo has to give it away legitimately sometime, huh? So I guess those of you who watch the movies can be excited for that. [Personally though, I think Nintendo churns out way too many movies for Pokemon. They're no longer special. Just merchandise. How sad, really.]

From PokeBeach:
+ PokeBeach did an excellent job writing up about upcoming Pokemon Tournaments at GameStops around the US. It takes place on Saturday, July 21st! You guys should all be excited and participate! If any of you guys take PICTURES at your store and email them to me at admin [at] pokejungle [.] net I will make a page for it. I will also take written summaries of the events. You MUST bring your (1)DS and (2)Diamond/Pearl Game. From PokeBeach's efforts, it looks like it will be single OR double battles (depending on the store) at lvl 50. Some stores will be using Rental Pokemon apparently though. PLEASE call your local GameStop and confirm the rules if you plan on going. You can see the official information page on GameStop's site right here. There will also be strict rules, and cheaters will be disqualified, no ifs/ands/buts. So if you cheated or have sharked Pokemon...good luck?

From BulbaNews:
+ The anime for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 will be airing in Japan on Sunday, September 9th! Piplup and Chimchar will be the starring Pokemon this time around. From Pokemon Scoop

Weekly Pokemon POLL!
+ (This is something that I was supposed to add awhile ago, but haven't been updating the site)
This week: Rampardos VS Bastiodon!!
UK Launch Coming!

In order to reduce the load time, I[/url]'ve shortened the amount of news that shows up on the front page to 5. I don't think that's too bad, and you can always click over to the next page if you *really* need older news. I'm sorry to dial up users that had to sit through long loading times before.

So yes, I'm back in America now. This weekend I will be finishing the layout, and hopefully a lot of other things as well! So you can all look forward to that. Unfortunately, I am not on dial up and don't have the speed I did for uploading. Oh well, new stuff coming soon hopefully.

From Us:
* Kikizo is reporting that Nintendo is planning a big UK launch party for Diamond and Pearl! The details are kind of fuzzy, but it looks like 200 people that pre-ordered the game are being selected to go to a big party with famous UK pop group McFly. Sounds kind of cool, I will try to get more concrete details on this later.

* CVG just came out with an article on the ups and downs of the Pokemon franchise. You can go read it here. A lot of what they say makes sense I think. I keep wishing the anime were better.

I'll be on the look out for new news! (Haha, link fixed, oops!)

D/P LAUNCHED IN EU!

It's happened! Europeans finally have their hands on D/P [without importing]! Let's cover what happened now:

* Launch went well in Hamley's, where Nintendo was actually selling 200 copies of the games early. Looks like there was a good turnout, and McFly was signing copies of the game! It was probably a good experience all around. Hope everyone who had the chance to go had fun!

* Diamond and Pearl are already taking the charts, according to Gamasutra at least. I can't wait to hear rock solid statistics on how many games were sold!

* No matter how redundant I think it is, IGN has 're-reviewed' the UK version of Diamond and Pearl. The games got a 8.4 out of 10. You can read the full review here. It was criticized heavily because the game was very similar to all the other iterations of the main RPG line, and rightly so. It's a bit disappointing to see GameFreak essentially just adding prettier wrapping paper to the game every time.

From Bulbanews:
+ DP045 has been named! 'Hunter J Returns! Protect Tatetops!' So we do, after all, get to see the mysterious Hunter J character again.

+ The 10th Pokemon Movie, Dialga Vs Palkia, is topping the Japanese box office! It has been out for 4 days now, and looks like it's doing pretty well. I want to see reviews though.

From PokeBeach:
+ Apparently the GameStop tournament he went to really sucked. That's rather disappointing, I hope the rest of you had better experiences.

Later~

GamePro Reviews PBR

Couldn't think of a very exciting title, sorry. August 1st will be launch version for the new layout and updated site. Not that amazing, but I did pull off a Web 2.0 layout which runs completely on DIVs, and is XHTML compliant. Also I've updated tons of pages, taken out old stuff, and plan on re-introducing old pages with fully updated content when they're ready. So some exciting stuff I guess. Look forward to Wednesday! The news will also have a different look, and will switch so that all news stories get their own post. Both RSS and Digg friendly that way! Short news today.

* GamePro has reviewed Pokemon Battle Revolution here. If you want to skip through that, it got a 3/5. The main complaints were that it was completely battling. No mini-games, and renting Pokemon is pretty boring. The only reason to buy it is if you have Diamond or Pearl and friends (real or online). Lack of online features also brought down the score. Hopefully next console game will raise the bar for quality a bit!

I will go back to finishing stuff for v2. I hope you're all at least a *bit* excited. I think PJN will be the fastest loading site at least, it's really zippy.

Introducing: PokeJungle Network

So, it took me all day to get things finished. Why? Several snags. The biggest being it took me 7 hours to work out the news templating with this. This entire layout is done in CSS and DIVs, and the news was NOT compatible with it. So I had to redo a lot of files. Aaaaand, couldn't find a file I desperately needed. I almost installed a new news system, but finally got it down. I also want you to know that the acronym has been changed from PJN to PjN to be more stylistic and reflect the changes that just went up.

What's new? Well, most obviously the layout. I wanted a whole ton of content to go with, but not happening. Some stuff has been updated or changed. Games menu has the most difference, with it being divided into just Portable and Console now. No more system-specific stuff. It just made the thing too long. Now, you will find the PotW/Dates/Latest Pages at the top! This only displays while you're browsing news. When you go to a different page, it'll be gone so you have the full space to browse content.

What's coming? A lot of updates for older pages. I'm going through basically the whole site now and updating what needs to be updated. Also deleting some things that are just too far gone. Sorry this didn't get done earlier, but this layout was a pain to create. I did it mostly by myself and had to learn so much about CSS. Ugh. It was worth it though I hope? Anyways, basically new and updated content coming!

New Update Format! PjN will be posting a new news piece for every new thing. Big updates are kind of an old thing for websites to do. This new way will be easier for users who use our RSS AND users viewing the site, so they can get smaller bite-sized reads. You can also simply skip over posts that deal with things you don't need to read.

Hover effects! These are my favorite things about this layout. Both the menu and news/comments have hover-over effects to change the background color. And I think they turned out really nice. So please enjoy them. This week things may be periodically changing to optimize the site or layout! The layout is named 'beta' after all. Which is teasing all those websites that always say it.

PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK! By commenting here, or if you're reading this at MMC, by replying. Sorry for the delay folks.

I'd like to thank Dragonfree of Cave of Dragonflies for help at the beginning. The CSS wasn't easy to get right. Also, our last layout (Carnivine) was designed by BluePheonix of PokeFusion. Fusion is having their opening today, ironically. Please go check out both sites!

Update: A bridge just collapsed in my state, Minnesota. It was a major highway and it looks like there is going to be a high death toll, please pray for the victims. It's honestly shocking, and someone I know may be in there.

New Details on Trading Figure Game

Finally, new details have surfaced about the Pokemon Trading Figure Game, TFG. A Nintendo Press Release revealed a few new details about it. First off, we can expect this to hit North American shores on September 19. This is now the confirmed release date in America and Canada (still no news for Europe). The base set will launch with around 40 collectible Pokemon figures, with two starter sets and individual boosters being offered. Here are some technical details from the release:

"The two Pokemon TFG starter sets include basic rules that will have fans playing in minutes: a two-player arena playmat, Trainer cards, and four different dynamic figures, including a Trainer figure. Boosters will expand gameplay and add new figures and Trainer cards to players' collections. The starter sets will be priced at $14.99 and the boosters at $3.49 for one figure, $6.99 for two figures (including a random mystery figure) and a Trainer card, and $9.99 for three figures, including a random mystery figure and one of three special promo figures (Chimchar, Piplup, or Turtwig) from the Diamond & Pearl release as well as a Trainer card. Future expansions-with additional popular Pokemon to increase the possibilities for battles-are under development."

I will definitely keep my eye out for any other developments on this. You may discuss the upcoming TFG in the comments if you wish, I'm not sure if American fans are very well informed and/or ready for it.

You can read the press release here.

Site Activity

So as I'm doing news in separate blurbs now, that's how my general site stuff works too. I will be using some time to update the site very soon. Things got pushed back because extended family was in town, so I was always busy. But NOW they are leaving, so I will be back to having nothing to do...and definitely update the actual site part of PjN.

Internet Explorer 6 users: I'm sorry that this layout does not look amazing for you. Please update to IE7 if you have not already OR feel free to download Firefox or Opera. I am not a webmaster who will shove those down your throat, but I'm just telling you, IE6 may be getting a very stripped down and not-very-fun layout because it cannot handle the intense DIV/CSS combo I used. I am going to apologize on Microsoft's behalf on how bad their old browser is.

I would also like to give a shoutout to my cousin from Texas. Because he won Pokemon Battle Revolution in his local GameStop competition, so congrats to him. Does he know I own this site? No. He uses Serebii.

Anyways, I'm excited to work on the site some more. Being in Japan really left me off the job!

Top 5 States to visit PjN

Not much news, huh? To break up stuff, I'm doing kind of a 'fun' post. If you ever wondered what US states visit my site the most, below the are the top 5. I realize that none of you really wondered that, but it's better than me not posting anything at all. And there'll be a new weekly Pokemon by the end of today/tomorrow. Usually Brandon does that, but he is on a personal relieve from PjN. Without further ado, the top five:

1) California
2) New York
3) Texas
4) Florida
5) New Jersey

Minnesota didn't fair too badly. My home state wasn't near the top though. Wyoming and Montana tied for visiting my site the least. Sad, huh? Anyways, sorry for the silliness, but you can store this away in facts you'll never need to know.

Please remember that PjN has a real time chat system! Click on the link below the search bar (#GreatMarsh!) in the banner to get to it. Just like Serebii, you can use it to find other trainers to trade/battle OR you can just chat. It is hosted on MMC, but no registering is needed to use it!

NEWCOMER: Pokemon Trainer

The LeafGreen/FireRed male trainer now makes an appearance in SSBB! Of cours as you probably read, he doesn't actually fight. He sits on the sidelines and you control Charizard, Ivysaur, or Squirtle as your fighter. Time will tell if this is an actually fun way to play, but I think it's a nice addition. Pokemon choices could've been better, but it's all ok.

Down + B will change the Pokemon, and this is actually required. If you switch too much or not enough, it will lower the 'stamina meter' and your Pokemon will grow tired out and therefore have less power. However, we do NOT know if this is a physical onscreen meter or a time limit of sorts.

There are Nintendo rumours about that speculate the female trainer will be an alternate outfit for the male one (ala Peach/Daisy) or an unlockable character. Unfortunately, we can't count on Nintendo to be fair about genders, and she might not make an appearance at all.

For more pictures and the official story: smashbros.com

Amazon: Pokemon Pearl Sale

Amazon, famous online retailer, is having a fantastic deal on Pokemon Pearl. Right now it is 43% off the normal price, and comes in at only $19.99. Brand new. Pokemon Diamond is still the normal price however. If you haven't picked up one of the two, or at least not Pearl, this probably won't be a price you'll be able to get anywhere else. At the moment there is no word whether this is a temporary sale, or not. But I think it's important for fans to know when a store cut almost half the price off. Check it out!

You can get both of the games bundled at Amazon for a mere $53 dollars, which would average them out to be around $27 each, which is a decent deal too. If you use the Pokemon Pearl link, you'll see it at the bottom there.

Punch Jump reported that with this price drop, sales of Pokemon Pearl surged up an astounding 5,000% in 24 hours. It became the best selling videogame on Amazon, surpassing Madden '08 for the XBox360. Bottom line: Pokemon's still got it! Sound interesting? Go read it! The second article is helpful to just about everyone I'd guess. It's an excellent guide to the PokeRadar app in the PokeTch.
DP Surpasses 3 Million Sold in US

Diamond and Pearl have recently passed the 3 million mark for units sold. This is a staggering amount since the games' launch in April. Pokemon Battle Revolution also ranks as the 5th Top Selling Game for the Wii to date.

"But anecdotally we're also seeing that these new Pokémon games are appealing to older players, the same ones who played the original Pokémon games when they debuted in the United States almost 10 years ago." - George Harrison

Why did I pick out that quote? Because apparently Nintendo of America realizes that it has a fanbase full of teenagers and young adults who grew up with Pokemon. Thank you for finally giving us credit. Albeit, a little late. Santi! (The Academy Is...'s word for "cheers", lol, always have wanted to use it) Pokemon games have also sold, in total, over 164 million units. That is one franchise that still goes strong.

Source: GameDaily BIZ

The set will contain over 130 new cards. The release date is set on November 7th, which is of course, subject to change. The new cards include some new items, new Unowns, and new Pokemon LV.X... The latter of which I have previously been unaware of. It will take place in the Sinnoh region, and undoubtedly release new 4th Generation Pokemon for use.

Two new 60 card premade theme decks will be available to buy, per tradition. They are 'Powerhouse' and 'Lavaflow'. We can assume that it would be fighting and fire respectively, but PjN will keep you updated on it. Theme decks will be priced at $11.99 and 10 card booster packs will be available for $3.79. Seems prices have gone up a bit since Pokemon TCG first launched.

Source: AnimeNewsNetwork

Pokemon in SSBB

Recently, the Super Smash Bros Brawl site has been updated with some Pokemon-themed things! First up, a new pokeball Pokemon:

Recognize him? Yes! It's munchlax! According to the site, he will appear and eat any item he encounters. The site also hints that his walking pace is slow, so I'm not sure of how much of a threat that actually is. But if there's an item you want, you better get to it before munchlax does!

It's the successor to Melee's Pokemon Stadium stage! It's Pokemon Stadium 2! It looks pretty familiar. We all know that the last stage had three alternate and distinct forms though, and Pokemon Stadium 2 is no exception. It has an ice stage (possibly slippery), a rock stage, and a flying stage. The last one sounds the most intriguing, as jumping abilities are heightened. That could possibly give flying characters, such as Pit, a huge edge. They also mentioned an Electric themed field, so we'll have to hold our breath to see what that holds! (Ok, sorry, don't hold your breath. It might be awhile...)

The theme for Pokemon Stadium 2 has also been released over at the Brawl site! For more pictures and images, I suggest you head on over there. Smash Bros DOJO!

Pokemon GTS Site Launches!

I'm fairly surprised more sites haven't covered this already. Anyways, the new official GTS site from Nintendo has launched, and you can go check it out!

Features:
- Shows you real trades that have happened around the world, it's sort of addicting to watch
- Extensive charts on popularity of pokemon, countries, etc. Pretty neat statistics.
- Bookmark your favorite Pokemon! You can keep tabs on them that way
- Truly a global site, with a plethora of languages

What could use work?
- It's not real time. In fact, it may be up to a day behind.
- Where. Is. The. Mute. Button? Srsly folks, I can't find it. MAKE IT BIG.
- Where's the interaction? You can't actually use your DS with the site.

I think it's an interesting site, but with the high flash load times and annoying music, I may only frequent it occasionally. At least Nintendo is capitalizing on the WiFi aspect. Now just take away friend codes. Please?

WiFi @ MMC

Ok, so did you notice that MMC suddenly grew by some new areas? Yes! We just opened up a new section! It's called "WiFi @ MMC", and we finally have a decent area for you to hang out in if you love using WiFi, either with Diamond, Pearl, Pokemon Battle Revolution...or all of them! Here's a quick rundown:

WiFi @ MMC
-Discussion and Support: For discussion of Nintendo's WiFi goodness AND also for WiFi support, either forum-wise or technical
-Battle Zone: For organizing a quick battle. Posts don't count, so make a quick thread if you just want someone to battle you!
--Gym House: This is our own little 'clan' system. Read the rules at the top of the forum to get an idea of how it works. Enjoy!
-GTS: Quick trades, either seeking something specific, or trading away something specific. Legit ONLY, or mark illegit.
--Shops: For member trading shops!
-Universe: An exciting new frontier, where guests are FREE TO POST!! No registration needed, you can still communicate with our almost 2,000 members. For trading or battling! (Don't abuse this though ;D)

All posts from PokeChan and GTS (which these new forums replaced) have been moved where they need to be. If you see a mistake, simply report the thread and I'll look at where it should actually go. I'm not perfect, sorry :B Team rating stuff went into the "Pokemon Gaming" general forum.

Seriously, enjoy it. It's about time we organized this better!

(Oh, and we got a new PotW. Thanks 'Beau!)

You may have already noticed his absence, but he has a busy life, and can no longer visit that much. Sorry to see you go buddy~ I'm sure he'll read any goodbyes you write in the comments.

Have a good day :B

THIS JUST IN!

Nintendo has officially closed their online forums 'indefinitely'! WHAT THE HECK?! I know so many people that have put so much time on there making friends, posting, getting information etc...now it's just gone?! This is crazy. Nintendo is crazy. Their 'explanation':

"Nintendo is working on a major overhaul to Nintendo.com to support the continued success of Nintendo DS and Wii. As we prepare for this huge site update, Nintendo must unfortunately close the Nintendo NSider Forums message boards indefinitely beginning Sept. 17, 2007." - Nintendo

WHAT?! Discuss this in comments! Personally? I think we should do something. This really irks me that Nintendo would suddenly do this. Biiiig mistake to make the fanbase mad. What do we do?

Piplup in SSBB!

A new PokeBall Pokemon has been released, Piplup! It will come out with the move Surf, and wash out any characters that get caught in the torrent of water. Obviously this is more useful than Goldeen in the last Smash Bros game. It looks as though this can be used as a pretty handy tool. More useful than Munchlax? Discuss in the comments!
Mystery Dungeon 2

We now have the sales chart figures for the two new Mystery Dungeon games that were released in Japan this past week. They came in second (Toki no Tankentai) and third (Yami no Tankentai). The games sold 300,295 and 268,593 copies respectively. Unfortunately, Crisis Core beat them both out with an impressive 487,659 copies sold.

Now we can just wait and see how long the Pokemon games'll stay on the chart!

Pokemon...On the rise?

Since there's no real news out there, I'll take an opinions piece.

"Pokemon is on fire. It's as hot as it's been in about 7 years and it's really the 'Diamond and Pearl' series." - Jim Silver (Editor Toys Wish Magazine)

I can believe what Mr. Silver says. It seems as though Pokemon has really taken off with the launch of Diamond and Pearl. Back when Ruby and Sapphire were releasing their Pokemon, I don't remember as much hype as D/P got. All the sites were absolutely clamoring for any signs of a new Pokemon, new feature, new Poketch App, whatever. Somehow the older fans were ready for a new game, and the new WiFi enabled DS generation got the younger crowd into a franchise that's been holding up through 10 years.

Not only the games have been doing well though. There have been reports that the show has now gotten more attention, possibly as a result of the game launches. And in turn, the TCG has also found a recent resurgence in players and popularity. This is all relative of course though, because I still wouldn't walk around my high school wearing a Pokemon shirt or anything. But all in all, it's nice to have our fandom receiving a little more attention.

I just hope Nintendo fully realizes how many fans they've got behind Pokemon, and their ages. Look at the visitors to my site for example. I frequently get people in their late teens and early twenties! But then Nintendo turns around and markets Pokemon to the 5 year old crowd. It's a great RPG, and should be more respected. I could literally see a Pokemon game carrying a Final Fantasy-calibur storyline. They don't need to rehash the same 'bad team out to steal pokemon' shtick. It just gets boring, and it's pretty damn pointless. Give us an emotional reason to 'Catch 'em All'!

So throughout the goods and the bads, Pokemon has really prevailed. And I guess we can all be pretty happy about that, even if we do have some complaints. Kudos to Nintendo, and I'd like to thank all the great fans that also make it fun to like Pokemon.

Later~

Get Manaphy on Saturday!

For those of us in the USA, there will be a special event going on Saturday at participating Toys 'R' Us locations around the country. From their hotspots, between 12 and 3, you can download Manaphy onto your Diamond or Pearl game. You must have received the Pokedex and have no more than 2 Wonder Cards. It's a special Manaphy to boot!

Manaphy @ Cherish Ball
Item: Red Scarf
Moves:
- Heart Swap
- Water Pulse
- Whirlpool
- Acid Amour

If you have the chance, I wouldn't pass this opportunity up. If you don't get the chance, I'm sure there'll be outrageous trade deals waiting for you on the GTS. REMEMBER THOUGH they could be fake Manaphy's there! So the best bet is just to go through this special promotion. To see the news story on Pokemon Games, click here. To see full instructions, click here [56k warning]. Make sure to call your local TRU to see if they're participating, not worth driving out just to find out they're not!

(And yes, PjN is back to being a real news source. Hooray?)

Some of you know about what's going on tomorrow, some of you don't. Like SPPf and PE2kf, MMC has participants in the "Pokemon Day" tomorrow. Basically the user Starmie started this (I think), and many people will be trading good pokemon or good items for any Pikachu named "Pokemon Day" via GTS. So want to see if you can get a good item and/or Pokemon? Go catch a Pikachu, name it "Pokemon Day" and put it up! Starmie is specifically asking for you to request a Spiritomb, but one of our other members is hopefully going to be giving out Scythers too.

Good luck folks!

New Content?! No wai!!

Yeah, I know, it's almost unbelievable. I have however spent the last two hours formatting content and writing stuff for the site. So let's see, I've got a few new things for you:

Featured Pokemon: Froslass! Yes, you all were probably getting bored with Starmie. Hence I decided that I should get up a new featured Pokemon. Thankfully Beau did this for me before he decided to take temporary leave. I also have Luxray prepared to get up next, so maybe this will go quicker next time... Just enjoy it though ;D Click on the picture right above the news!

IV / EV Guide Frankly, I think this is amazing. This is another NintenBeau article (isn't everything nowadays?) and he covered it really well. Just check it if you want to EV train in Ruby/Sapphire, Emerald, LeafGreen/FireRed, or Diamond/Pearl. I've been wanting an IV/EV guide up for awhile now, so yay! What are you waiting for? Go read it!

Pal Park Guide Here's an article so that you can get around PalPark without worrying. So if you've beaten the Elite 4 and want to start the great 3rd Generation to 4th Generation migration, this article could be for you. It's pretty handy. It is located here.

Pokemon Ranch Yes, I've actually written something up! I got a new page up for Pokemon Ranch, which features a description of it, some screenshots, and the basic stats. It is being developed by Ambrella, the same company which is responsible for Hey You Pikachu, Pokemon Channel, and most recently, Pokemon Dash. This WiiWare title is set to debut in Japan in 2008. Go read my article!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 We now have a page for it up, including screenshots, boxart, and the usual facts w/ description. We actually don't have that much information available for it yet...but we'll get there when we start getting translated screenshots! It's up here!

PJN Toolbar! I've updated the site toolbar to include Spinarak search AND links to your favorite forums now! That includes PC, BMGf, PE2Kf, and the infamous SPPf! It's now even easier for you to get around to your favorite Pokemon, plus the Pokemon-only search is quite useful. And now it updates automatically with news from this site so you're always up-to-date! Yay! Sound interesting? Go download it for Firefox or Internet Explorer!!

I also updated the staff page. Just a quick fix since I'm the only person actually left as an active staff member. Not that I'm complaining or anything...

I will also be doing random fixes and updates across the site. If you find an error, don't hesitate to give me an email! admin@pokejungle.net ;D Wow. I did so much today. I can't believe it.

- Paul

"Groundbreaking" News

Oooh! We get a new news category for getting 'Trading Figure Game' updates. Anyways, some WalMart stores have broken the release date of the new set and put it on shelves. Multiple sources have reported different facts, and there's even a scanned-in poster of the entire set. The new set is entitled 'Groundbreakers' and features 42 new figures (38 Pokemon, 4 Trainers).
Pokemon Snap on Virtual Console?

It looks like Pokemon Snap may be making a comeback via Nintendo's Wii. There have been reports that it was advertised and demo'd at a recent TCG Tournament in Japan. This could mean that it's ready for a release, but it could also just be an event to gauge fan reaction. Right now there is very little information, and it may not be available anywhere but Japan.

But we can hope! As with most N64 games, it's expected to come out at 1,000 ($10) if it does. So that's a hypothetical price of a hypothetical release. Maybe a bit too much guesswork?

Source: PokeBeach

Whaddya Know?

It appears that the early news we had was right! Pokemon Snap is hitting the Virtual Console, but right now it's limited to Japan. So there are some changes though. First off, it will be online compatible and message-board compatible, so in both cases you can share the pictures you've taken. In my opinion, this adds a nice level of socialness to the game. Not sure how many pictures of Charmanders I want to see in the long run, but thanks Nintendo!

The Japanese release date would be December 4th and **UPDATE** the American release date has been revealed as December 10th, as seen on http://pokemon.com !!

Let the holidays begin!

A few site issues. First, do you all like how I'm updating the news frequently? Yes, yes, it's all part of my master plan. I can just see it now... Erm, anyways (sorry, that was really cliche). I do hope you appreciate that the site doesn't look dead anymore!!

Second I'll let you guys know that I'm adding some pages soon and will be doing updates. I want to get some pages up on the Trading Figure Game, it looks interesting enough.

Third our forum, Mount Moon, has an AMAZING new winter theme by my good friend saul!! I seriously love this theme, I don't know what it is about it, but it's so cute <33 It even has a small amount of snowflakes coming down. Usually that type of stuff gets annoying (SPP's advent...) but this script seems to be better oO; Seriously go check it out! Old members can switch themes at the bottom, and anyone can see it. (Mount Moon)

Yep :] Have a good December~

US Nintendo Site Updated!!

The North American / US Nintendo site has been totally redone. There is now a much sleeker front page that focuses on, surprisingly, girls. You'll notice that two young women are featured prominently, probably playing into Nintendo's new strategy of attracting new gamers.

The hover effects on the top menu are pretty impressive. The whole site has a very Wii-esque feel. Does this mean the DSII will feature a similar sleek approach? One can only guess at this point, although it's been rumoured this generation of DS will have one more rendition before it gets a successor.

Some things have not been updated, such as pages that refer to 'art galleries', a feature that's now absent. For example, the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl page which makes reference to it. If you click on Product Registration, you'll get the old layout. It seems there are a few things that need to be updated!

One of the cooler new features is the Game Guide. You can have Nintendo help you pick out your perfect game! Do I smell a lawsuit coming from an unsatisfied customer? Possibly! But it's kind of a fun time killer.

I'm a bit disappointed the community aspect didn't come back. I was hoping that the message meant that yes, the forums were closing for the time being, but at one point they'd be making a return. Apparently not because the redesigned layout is here and there's no forums or even any user-interaction included. Nintendo seems to really take child protection to a ludicrous level, or simply wants to ignore the wants of its fans. I'll leave that up to you to decide.

Bomb with Bonsly!

Yes, Bonsly is the newest revealed Pokemon to star in Super Smash Bros Brawl! He'll come out of some Pokeballs per the norm for Pokemon in SSB series.

Looks like he'll act as a giant 'rock' that you can throw at foes (for short distances), and cause massive damage. I think it's a great addition to SSB. Before Kirby had his rock transformation, but no we've got something comparable that can come out of a Pokeball.

What do you think? (Yes, I'm too lazy to post pics... You should know how to get to the site. We could also discuss 'Is the webmaster of this site evil?')

What have I been up to?

Ok, so I'll spill some of the beans. PjN has a new holiday layout. I spent four hours getting it set up last week JUST FOR YOU GUYS. But guess what? IE6 absolutely butchers it. All the rest of the browsers? Fine. UGH. Until I fix that, it can't go up... But I'm working on it :[ It really is a cute layout <3

And...I suppose I'll spill a few more beans. Over winter break, our PokeDex project will be going up. It will take the pokechan.net domain name, and it's tentatively called "Pokemon Channel" (lolnotthegame). It WILL be a wiki. It will NOT be edited by everyone. If you want that, obviously we fully support BulbaGarden's efforts! This will only have a wiki backend for the staff of PjN, MMC, and our partner sites to create pages and such. It's just easier that way. What will make it better? We want a very tight and QUICK LOADING PokeDex! So many sites take forever!! So the layout will be minimalistic (it will NOT run MediaWiki as Bulba does...), and it will also be CSS-licious. So you can be excited for that :]

Then after holidays, it looks like Leafeon will most-likely-probably be instituted as our official mascot and integrated into our new layout for post-Holiday madness!!

Cool huh?

If you don't, it'll only be up until a little after the new year starts :]

Pretty soon (later tonight or tomorrow) I'll have the new Featured Pokemon up! (Notice how I don't use weekly anymore? I try, but with this much homework...)

And tomorrow is my LAST DAY OF SCHOOL before Christmas break! So then I will have plenty of time to update stuff around the site and really make it more relevant.
...of small fixes. I have cleaned up a lot of the game pages, added cover art, made sure they have the basic information with the templates and such... yeah. I just spend about two hours making the site look more professional. No sense in going forward if the stuff you've got isn't good, is it? So hopefully that'll make it just that much easier when you're looking for information! The main RPG games all have a Quick Facts list that lets you know some basic stuff if you're looking it up.

*phew* Tomorrow the new Featured Pokemon should go up, and I want to get up some new original content. The holidays draw nearer!

ALSO: I've updated the Team RPG a bit so that there are NO PASSWORDS. That was a big mistake that lasted way too long, sorry folks!
SSBB: Beat Rayquaza

The official Smash Bros site inadvertently revealed that Rayquaza is part of the new 'Adventure Mode'! It looks like you'll have to beat him to progress. Or, as the post revealed, you can weaken it and through a trophy stand at him and "capture" him in the form of a trophy. How very Pokemon-ish. Anyways, one must wonder what it will look like! I'll be pretty impressed if they make him look good while he's twisting around in the air. We didn't want to make it on New Year's Eve, because family is more important, and many of you will have things going on. So December 30th was decided on.

What will there be? Lots of stuff! IRC Chat all day (open for guests), special countdown threads, New Year's themed Role Play, people looking to do battling, etc etc.

Just come.
CoroCoro Reveals Ranger 2

In my spirit of giving you the information, I've included the full scans in the post. Basic details include the choice of 18 different (mostly new) Pokemon you may choose as Partners. They go across the middle in the second scan and include Kricketot! Krrrrazy! The release date will be March 20th, any of you planning to import? We can of course cross our fingers that this game will be (1) longer than the last and (2) harder. Both were major complaints of the last version. Click on the images below for bigger images. Courtesy of DSFanBoy.

Possibly a bigger issue here (yes, I'm leading into an Editorial) is whether or not we need to be buying these spin off games. Are we REALLY helping by buying into all this sub-par work? If this was a game with a brand new Character and not coming from Nintendo, would we even give it a second glance? Judging by its lackluster first game, I'd say no. As fans, we support this ludicrous practice of side games by continually buying them and giving them glowing reviews. Let's be honest, sometimes Pokemon really does let us down.

I come down equally as hard on Diamond and Pearl and the (eventual) third installment (probably based on Girantina). Are was as fans doing a service by just buying each new generation of Pokemon games because they're 'TEH OMGZ POKEMAN RPG!!!'? Seriously GameFreak, give us something worth playing. I'm getting pretty sick and tired of picking up this game for 10 years now and how much longer am I going to have to stomach it? We could have a Final Fantsy-calibur storyline. Yes folks, it's possible. We could have breathtaking landscapes and character models on the console games. Yes, that's possible too. We could have battles on the portable that are in 3D, just like the recent Dragon Quest Monsters game. Yes, even that is possible. So why don't we get those things?? Because GameFreak doesn't care about you anymore. It doesn't care about quality anymore. It is no longer dedicated to improving the formula that made Pokemon worth playing and so damn addictive. GameFreak Inc now only serves to appease Nintendo, Shareholders, and the market by releasing a game that is essentially a money tree for the video game industry.

Thanks profit-driven companies. Thanks a lot.

I'm sure Serebii has known for at least 100 years, but he hasn't been telling us either.

Can't wait for Darkrai :] He'll still be an uber though, so with that in mind, will you use him on your team?

Pokemon Platinum, lolwut?

What is this?! Pokemon Platinum? The third installment of Diamond and Pearl? Somehow I think not, as Opal is kind of where it's at in the "Pearl/Diamond/???" gem lineup. Can we say 'Gold/Silver/Crystal' remake? Yes, I can.

So could be a rumor or we could have another game coming in Spring 2009! Any thoughts on this? Either what it could be or even if it's true or not...

EDIT: And sorry, I didn't know it was 20 days since I updated actually. That was totally my bad. I also got a new job two weeks ago. Plus I got a Wii today (whoo!). Yeah. That shouldn't happen again plus I have new content from the grave, courtesy of Beau.

Everyone's Pokemon Ranch

So most of you should know by now (well, if you're a hardcore fan) that Pokemon Ranch was renamed to 'Everyone's Pokemon Ranch' for the Wii. Peeps in Japan will get to download it soon at 500 to 1,000 Wii points via WiiWare.

[Screenshot coming here when I get out of school, site blocker is keeping me from gaming news...grrr...]

Some of the main details are as follows:
- It's run by Yukari, a friend/sister of Bebe (Sinnoh's PC Expert, Box Manager)
- You can store up to 1,000 Pokemon
- Photos can be taken and stored via SD card or shared on the Wii message board (locally, sending is probably included to)
- There are some activities you can do with your pokemon. Petting them, watching them, having a bonfire with them.

[Another screenshot]

Ok, so many sites have reported this. But they haven't focused on how terribly mundane this all sounds. I'm still waiting for a feature that makes me actually WANT to get this "game". Ok, so I can interact with my Pokemon. But is there any actual benefit to this? Or does Nintendo just expect me to be so enamored with petting my virtual Pokemon that I will not notice the hours slipping away as I go from Pokemon to Pokemon, making them the happiest little cyber pets EVER.

So yeah. I'm undecided as to whether I'm going to drop actual money on this WiiWare thing.

Mystery dungeon 2 - Pre Order Gift

Nintendo has now announced that if you preorder Mystery Dungeon 2 at participating retailers, you'll receive the coinciding 'Explorer's Guide' free! It's apparently packed with lots of 'exclusive tips' and a short manga. This starts on Sunday, March 16th. While supplies last of course. Probably will mean $5 down as well.

However, with all that said, the word 'walkthrough' is not mentioned once. Which leads me to believe that for most hardcore fans, or anyone who's played MD 1, will find the book disposable unless you want to read the manga.

I'll try to look into how useful it actually might be.
Pokemon Ranch OUT in Japan

Not so many new details, save for a few:
* Diamond/Pearl not required, all games start out with 6 Pokemon (including Pikachu) and one is given each day. NO WORD on whether or not this will be transferable to your game card, but it can be assumed these will not be super rare. We've seen the screenshots with swarms of bidoofs ;)
* Game abilities are unlocked as you level up your ranch. At the beginning you get severely limited control, essentially just being able to watch your Ranch. You can 'level up' your Ranch by getting more Pokemon there. No word on whether or not there's a daily limit for transferring Pokemon information from D/P, ala RSELGFR to the DS.
* Like Pokemon Box in a more graphically enhanced and game-ish setting. So basically if you're not going to use Ranch in tandem with Diamond or Pearl, it's not worth getting. Good for organizing Pokemon though.

Over the next few days I'll update the page with the new info and more as it trickles out from Japan. Also more screenshots =] Yay!

Updates I Missed

Ok, SORRY! I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but I do have school + part time job + relationship now so updates have become increasingly harder to remember to do. MY BAD! I'm going to work from here on out to be better about it, and summer definitely means I'll have more time on my hands. So I apologize. Please keep visiting the site? (>~o~)> HUUUUUUG!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon 2 Launches :: Some of you noted in the comments for the previous post (yes, I do read them) that I hadn't covered this. Oops. Yeah, it came about. I was going to buy it but something came up. Reviews overall have been lukewarm...complaints have mostly been about the graphics still looking GBA-gen and it being too easy. The punishing system of losing everything has luckily been remedied though (now you just lose what you don't have deposited) and full WiFi support for rescues to boot. I want to check this out later. Of, y'know, if Nintendo wants to send me a copy...I could review it...

Majestic Dawn (TCG) coming :: There are also pre-release tournaments over North America beforehand too. Check the locations and dates for the PRE-RELEASE tourneys here or just buy a pack when it debuts on May 21st. [Anyone live in Minnesota? We could have a PJN meetup. Comment on the story if you're interested.]

Mystery Dungeon 2 Codes :: Pokemon.com is giving away codes for new missions that normally can't be done, so here's your FIRST code: N04K +HCW &TF& 7M16 KHMH FR@% May 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th will all yield new codes, which I'll put on the site.

Pokemon Puzzle League on Wii :: On May 5th Nintendo officially made PPL available over the Virtual Console for 1,000 Wii Points (~$10). I was never a huge fan of this...I'd rather buy Snap. If I had some Wii points. But I don't.

Phew, that should be the biggies. Sorry 'bout the slowdown guys!

I did like the banner (thanks pikaadvance!) but I did an awful coding job.

So I hope to change that with this one, which is marginally better. If someone wants to come up with a better banner they can feel free to volunteer =]

Some changes:
+ Calender is gone, I don't have time to update it and I needed somewhere to link the sites that tie in with PJN.
+ New section that links to 4 Pokedexes (SPP, Veekun, Smogon, Bulbapedia). I won't be making yet ANOTHER one, so I figured I should just let visitors go to their preferred one with less hassle.

I've got a new Featured Pokemon coming up too, but it's midnight now and I need to SLEEP!
New Sections + New Pages

Let's go over the new stuff on the site today. I put in over four hours of work, so I hope you guys enjoy it. Filled with all the info, images, and screenshots we have to date. Not anything new really...but as details leak out we'll be sure to keep you in the know. The page right now serves as a nice way to keep tabs on everything in one spot.

Featured Pokemon - Venusaur gets the honor of being our newest featured Pokemon, so take a look at the great job NintenBeau did with it! As usual, it goes by the new Diamond/Pearl moves. I know it was way overdue to change this, sorry!

Pokemon TGC Video Game - Blast from the past! In a weird twist of fate I got this game yesterday, so now I'll be adding more information about it. Not a lot of sites have a huge section on this one, but it really is a good game. Review will be up tomorrow hopefully.

Pages:

PBR General Guide - Contains valuable information for the Wii game 'Pokemon Battle Revolution', including the codes for getting Electivire/Magmortar if you don't already have them. Also features a handy guide to what you can get with your coupons.

PBR Little Battle - Lists all the Pokemon that can participate in the 'Little Battle' @ Sunny Park Colosseum. Handy for those who are looking at what Pokemon they are going to be able to use!

Upcoming Pages:
+ Ranger 2
+ New Poll
+ PokePet update (Coming June)

Thanks!

UPDATE: Also got rid of the annoying PHP error, FINALLY! It was an "oops" moment for me when I actually found out what the problem was. Sorry about that folks.

PS- I still want comments about the layout!

Anyone get Darkrai?

So, yesterday was the event to grab Darkrai at Toys 'R Us around the country (today too!). Did anyone get one? You guys should discuss in comments, and my heart does go out to all those who are not in America. It really isn't fair how Many countries get left out of special events =[

But yeah...if you're free today CALL your local Toys 'R Us and get the information to see if they're doing it and at one time. Normally it's like noon to 2 or 3 or something. Unfortunately, I have work. Which I did yesterday and couldn't update, sorry.

Get out there and grab some legit Darkrai! (I have the Japanese Diamond, so no worries about getting a legit darkrai myself)

Take care :]

<3 pokejungle

Oh yeah, there's a password. "orasion"

I dunno about you, but when I see Darkrai, all I can think is "orasion". It makes so much sense.

Anyways, use the wallpaper if you want, or if you don't like it MAKE YOUR OWN! You can submit it to PJN and we'll judge if it's worth sharing with others :] I'm thinking this would make a good contest.
Shaymin's Sky Forme? [UPDATE]

New image has surfaced

A new image of Shaymin's "Sky Forme" has surfaced, this time cropping up on a Japanese imageboard and spotted by blue skY. It looks like the normal form will be called the "Land Forme" as of current reports from numerous sites.

Hehe, PJN pulled an image up first in the enlish fandom courtesy of the Japanese fandom. Yay.

----

The sky forme?

So...as many of you may have read (or not) a company accidentally revealed this when the cup was featured on the Pokemon Festa page (official). Pokemon Festa is an upcoming Pokemon Event held in Japan every year.

What do you guys think of it? Honestly, I liked Purple Keckleon's idea better...but...ah well. Of course, this could be a GEN5 Pokemon, but that is fairly doubtful.

Also reported was the possibility of a Shaymin Ground Forme, but that will remain in the RUMOR DEPT for now.

[Source: AAPF]

They were found at Yahoo Auctions, and, before you ask, the seller will not ship overseas. Yeah...I was bumming too.

But it seems a bit clearer now.

However, the discussion now is...is this really Shaymin's form? It has white antler ears, nigh green, red "wings" or bandana thing...Really?!

Comment today whether you like shaymin's new "form" or not.
My Pokemon Ranch released on WiiWare - More of this in next update, it's 2:50 AM and I'm too tired to do a complete write up. The good news is that I slapped down $10 to get the game. Half because I wanted to provide accurate information to you guys and half because it's SOOOOOOO CUTE!!

GameStop giving away Deoxys - June 20,21,22 / 27,28,29. Check your local GS to confirm this please as it is not 100% that every single one will be doing this. Last time I went to a Gamestop I got kicked out (no joke). Apparently they don't like it when you ask for battletoads.

Nintendo World Center, NY has Darkrai - Throughout the month stop in at the NWC in New York to get Darkrai if you didn't grab one at Toys 'R Us. Right now not that much else is known, the press release just recently came out, but some featured Pokemon will be Pikachu, Dialga, Palkia, and Darkrai. It has also been released that the set of promotional cards will be focused on the Diamond and Pearl series.

There will be "in-store merchandising" which means there will probably be other Pokemon things to buy, just like BK has a habit of doing with plastic watches and such during a promotion.

An International release of the promotion will take place from late summer to early fall, so people not in the US shouldn't feel left out, yet.

When it comes up, this URL will have information about the promotion. Or least horrible childhood memory inducing way possible.

...anways, check it out! This was a major upgrade in forum software so tons of new features, including more AJAX use with Quick Reply and the like, horizontal or vertical postbit (like vBulletin), new and improved post editor, and yes, even more. So I highly reccommend going to check it out. I know most people who visit the site are already members. If not, it's http://mountmoon.net =]

<3 pokejungle

ps- saul did an AMAZING job on the new theme. It's really really good!

Some Plat-in-um News

So it looks like we will NOT be seeing a WiFi equipped underground mode. That's fairly disappointing to me, although I guess we can't complain when we've got a battle recorder and some new minigames.

Serebii has also reported on battle point scratch cards and an egg tossup minigame that you can do with friends. Frankly it sounds like we *might* be getting the game we deserved two years ago. And really they could've fit in better graphics to boot. But enough with the griping I guess.

So, anyone else biting their nails to see those new Pokemon forms revealed? I know some of guessed at it being Rotom, with others thinking possibly Castform...

<3 pokejungle

Platinum Bits

+ Yahoo! Kids Pokemon page posted some new videos yesterday that had a few tidbits in them. The top one is an extremely simple battle primer but does show off the cute new sprites of Platinum. Frankly...I think they have more character, but that could be just me. Plus those HP bars are mmm mmm good. Second video introduces the new information...not much, but some:
>> Keep a WiFi profile with limited information and you can customize a box to show of Pokemon you like. This could only apply to the Battle Record trading, and those rooms are limited for up to 20 people in each.

>> A huge focus was put on the interactivity of the WiFi system so it should be fairly robust when it debuts, possibly marking Nintendo testing the waters to get into deeper online interactions later.

>> The storyline will feature a lot of new and revised elements to make the story fresh. Not that the series has been known for its narratives. Perhaps it was passable on the Gameboy though.

Go watch the videos!

+ Not sure if this was widely reported but the 5 silhoutted Pokemon will be given out via WiFi (or possibly the items to get them) during Sept 28 through November 4. They'll be revealed on the 13th with the release of Platinum. (Whoo!)

+ Serebii's announced that a whopping 59 Pokemon have been added to the National Dex. This does not mean all those are new forms or Pokemon, most will be older Pokemon brought out to make the range of capturable Pokemon larger in the beginning of the game. That's pretty good because I know I got bored with the rather limited amount frankly...

But we know that there are the 5 forms that remain unrevealed + Giratina + Shaymin.

Pokemon Platinum Coverage

If you want to follow what's happening, hit up PokeBeach or Serebii. Frankly I don't have the Japanese game and I'll definitely be waiting to snag the English version.

My comments:
- Glad Battle Frontier is back
- WiFi Minigames sound fun
- Story seems lacking as always
- PokeTch BADLY needed up/down buttons, great
- Glad that the Trainer vs Gym Leader sprites are no longer PIXELATED. (Annoyed the **** out of me)
- Hopefully harder game

So yeah, check the links for continued coverage. I'll update some pages when I have time. That's something I've had about zero of lately. =p

<3 pokejungle

Missing in Action

Sorry, this is the last non-Pokemon update I plan to do for awhile.

And honestly I was planning on closing PJN, but I guess there are still people that visit it. And I've gotten about 5 affiliate requests in the last week, so... Perhaps it's worth keeping up.

I want to rehaul the design to make it much more usable and less boring/generic. So I'll start keeping up on news again and hope to have the new layout done in mid November-ish.

Thanks for the support guys, I'm off to work now!

<3 pokejungle

PJN is closed.

From MMC~

Hey everyone~

I'd love to take this time to wish you all the warmest wishes for a time of family and fun. Hope you get lots of good presents and enjoy the rest of 2008. Remember to be safe and drink responsibly! (If you're of legal age ;D )

I'd also like to wish a fond farewell to my site, PJN, which is officially closed. It will remain up (I'll be taking down the news area though) for reference purposes but will not be updated really. I sadly just have too much on my plate to handle a site with the dedication that it demands. No fears though, MMC is in no sort trouble and will keep on trucking as long as it has members like you to keep it going. PJN had a good run, since January 29th, 2003. Almost made it to six years! WOW.

If there are any dedicated souls out there, I'm still keeping everything. I'm open to the possibility of opening the site again once I have time or help with it.

Love you guys <33 It's always been great to have support from people who visit my site and the members here. It has also been a joy to work with such talented webmasters through the years, such as saul and Sarah. Previous people such as Morkula, Jkaizer, Matt (Snapple), and more.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! ENJOY!

<3 pokejungle

EDIT:

After reading all those comments on the last news post (lol) thought I'd share something a 'lil personal. I have extremely bad depression. If any of you know me more than just through this site, you might know I switched schools midway through the year last year because I was just so overwhelmed with everything I couldn't keep up academically. I went from being an A+ student to barely squeeking by with Cs and Ds. And just like the homework was overwhelming for me, so is the upkeep of a site. I'm a full time college student + have a part time job. That's a huge commitment for me and while I loved working on PJN for almost 6 years, it's really difficult.

But it has been a huge part of my life and I don't think I'd be on the track to being a game designer if I hadn't gotten involved online, started coding, and testing the waters with designing websites. XHTML and programming have little in common but it did start me on the path I'm on and piqued my interest to work with computers.

Will PJN be dead forever? Probably not. There actually has been a lot of interest with people wanting to help me with it and such but I have to get everything straightened out and I'd rather if people weren't constantly sitting there with bated breath for me to update.

Plus I still really do want to outdo any layout I've ever done.
